Merkinė Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Complex

The church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was built in the early 15th century (likely under the care of Vytautas the Great). Its Gothic-Baroque architectural features were highlighted through reconstructions in the 17th and 19th centuries. In 1648, the current facade and vaults were freshly renovated with funds from Władysław Vasa and Michał Kazimierz Pac, giving the church its Baroque characteristics.
