Bobos Daržo Šalcinis spring

The Bobos Daržo Šalcinis (Crone's Garden Spring) marks the source of Skroblus River — considered the most beautiful stream in Dzūkija. In the Skroblus Valley, groundwater emerges not only from the slopes but also rises from deep intermorainic aquifers, forming small surface pools known locally as burbaklės. A wooden footbridge leads across the marshy hollow to the spring itself, where crystal-clear water flows from a cave that disappears into the earth below.

Local legend tells that all the children of Margionys village were “born” here — an old woman would pull them out from the spring and hand them to their parents.

In the so-called “Bobos Daržas”, groundwater bursts forth from deep aquifers and collects in small surface hollows before flowing into a single stream — the source of the Skroblus River. According to folklore, all children from Margionys came from this very spring, delivered by an old woman who would fish them out from the watery hollow.
