Bakanauskai lake

Nestled among inland dunes lies the small Bakanauskai Mire (29.4 ha) with the remnant Bakanauskai Pond (4.2 ha). Both the lake and surrounding wetland formed when a block of ice broke off from a retreating glacier and later melted beneath accumulated sediments.

A wooden boardwalk leads from the edge of the mire to the pond, allowing visitors to experience the full diversity of wetland vegetation, enjoy the rich colors of the bog, and take in its unique scents.
