Church and Liturgical Heritage Exhibition in Liškiava

We offer a guided tour of the church built by Dominican monks in the 17th century, introducing its architecture as well as the artistic and cultural heritage values it houses. The guide will present the most important historical periods of the village of Liškiava and its parish, explain the arrival and life of the Dominicans in Liškiava in the 17th century, and share details about the current state of the Liškiava architectural ensemble.

In the church crypt, you will have the opportunity to see the Dominican monks who built the Church of the Holy Trinity and the monastery, buried in open glass coffins.

In the monastery cellar, you will visit the liturgical heritage exhibition, which includes: chasubles, stoles, cinctures, the now-unused maniple, confessional, drum, procession lanterns, clapper, wafer-making tool, tabernacle, bench, censer, altar stone, nativity scene, cross, chalice and paten, liturgical pillow, pall, corporal, communion vessel, ciborium, biretta, monstrance, and more.

There are also several non-liturgical exhibits: an oil lamp, iron, sickle, prison door, flax brushing tool, and a dugout canoe donated for the exhibition by a man who once traveled the Nemunas River.
