Old Jewish Cemetery of Senoji Varėna

These cemeteries were established in the 19th century and represent an important cultural heritage site, bearing witness to the once vibrant and active Jewish community in the region. The cemetery was used until the mid-20th century, when most of the Jewish population was either deported or perished during World War II.

Approximately 200 gravestones remain within the cemetery grounds, many of them inscribed in Hebrew and Lithuanian. These headstones reflect the architectural styles and funerary art of that period.
