Merkinė Hillfort

Between the 14th and 15th centuries, one of the strongest Lithuanian wooden castles stood on the Merkinė hillfort. Today, travelers are drawn here not only by the historical significance but also by one of the most beautiful panoramas in Lithuania – the confluence of the Merkys and Nemunas rivers.
