Liškiava Hillfort

The remains of a stone-built tower can still be seen on the hillfort. It is believed that the Lithuanians were building a castle here in preparation for defending against Teutonic attacks, but after the victory at the Battle of Grunwald, the castle was no longer needed. From the hillfort, there is a beautiful view of Liškiava Church, the Nemunas River, and the vast pine forests of Dzūkija.
