Girežeris Hillfort

The hillfort is situated on a separate large hill on the right bank of the Derežnyčia River (now a pond). The site is nearly rectangular, elongated in a northeast–southwest direction, measuring 150 meters in length, 90 meters wide in the northeast, and 100 meters in the southwest, with a depression up to 1 meter deep on the western side. A ditch from the old entrance is visible on the northeastern slope. The slopes are steep, rising 10 meters high. The hillfort is overgrown with pines and an undergrowth of junipers. The northeastern foot of the hill is not submerged. In 2001, J. Balčiūnas investigated a 36 m² area of the hillfort but did not find a cultural layer. The hillfort is dated to the 1st millennium.
