The Vincas Krėvė-Mickevičius Memorial Museum is the birthplace and childhood home of the renowned Lithuanian writer, playwright, and public figure Vincas Krėvė-Mickevičius (1882–1954), where he lived until 1904. The museum was established in 1966.
It is housed in an authentic late 19th-century Dzūkija-style village home with a thatched roof, reflecting the traditional rural architecture of that time. The exhibition occupies the entire house and recreates the environment in which the writer lived and worked. In the main room (seklyčia), you’ll find items brought by the writer from Baku, including a wardrobe, a table, and a wall clock. The bedroom features an exhibition dedicated to Krėvė’s life and literary legacy.
The museum offers a variety of educational programs tailored to visitors of all ages. Guided tours are available in Lithuanian, English, Russian, and German, introducing visitors to Krėvė’s life and work. Events commemorating the writer’s legacy are also regularly held at the museum.
