Master of Traditional Dzūkija Crafts Romas Norkūnas

Romas Norkūnas, a craftsman of the Dzūkija National Park, is dedicated to preserving endangered traditional crafts such as weaving, rope making, and tree beekeeping. He works exclusively with natural materials, and his passion for crafts was born from a desire to create independently.

Romas is renowned as one of the few remaining practitioners of traditional tree beekeeping in Lithuania. Thanks to his efforts, a beekeeping museum with living traditions was established in the village of Musteika. For his contribution to preserving national heritage, he was awarded the Lithuanian “Ray of the Countryside” prize.
